I don’t know if this has ever happened with you but it often happens with me. Sometimes when someone says something to me that I don’t know what and how to answer, I just stand there looking for an answer and completely out of context. This makes me look like an idiot and for no good reason. This is where I really feel like I shouldn’t be having a conversation with anyone outside of the text messaging platforms. I mean they are damn good. One gets to say whatever he wants to. Even if you don’t know what to reply, you don’t have to look like a stupid idiot in front of anybody. You get to save face and can avoid such circumstances.
But then I find one thing that makes me believe that face to face convos are the best. Here we get to, like truly express ourselves. I mean we get to show how excited we are, how sad we are and it’s easy to guess if the other person is faking. The spirit is there and there is honesty.
For a socially awkward person like me, it is difficult to maintain the flow in a conversation and chances are high for me to act stupid. But this is what keeps the weirdness alive, pushes us to extremes and the confusion has humor of its own.
That’s all I had to say. Wish you a great experience ahead. Keep writing, keep pushing!
Totally confusing ! 😊

I’m completely agree with you here Abhishek. I too believe in f2f conversations. One of the major benefits is you don’t get confused or misunderstood.
Well, it was a great post. 😊😊😊

I was just like you. I used to shudder at the thought of making conversation with people. Then I realised that I look more like a fool by not engaging in conversation. so the next time you get befuddled that you can’t understand what the other means, just ask again. No harm done 🙂

We all go through this situation at times, totally lost as to what to answer…….In such a situation I politely say “I don’t know” , that’s it. 🙂

Feels good that so many people could relate to it. That sounds a good way to move forward. Thank you😀

haha give this statement a twist bro ;),,, we are the one who make them superior :P, if we are not that dumb, then they will look ordinary as we are 😀 . we make them extra ordinary :P.. all the credit goes to us 😀

I used to feel that way when I was younger. Now that I’m a lot older, the awkwardness is gone. I just don’t care about what others think. I’ll ask again or ask for an explanation. No one has ever been offended by my interest in them or what they are saying 🙂

Face to face is better in the long run. I know I come off as a goofball sometimes when people meet me but over time they begin to understand who I am. Things are easily misconstrued in email and extent. But I agree I know I sound so much smarter in written form. Love the blog.

Thank you for expressing your experience here. And yeah, it is easier to sound convincing in written form😀

LOL… That sounds so much like myself. My work requires me to be such a control freak that when I don’t have an answer to something; I’m truly stumped. The downside is is that sometimes I’m too technical or serious that I tend to not truly embrace the harmonious atmosphere that I may be so privileged to be subject to…

I think now its not just you and me. Almost everyone faces the same situation. Damn! But on a good side…our acts often lightens the atmosphere😁

Haha! Even in face to face cconv during a casual chit-chat, I often find others confusing me with something else. It makes me laugh my head off and they start guessing what it is I am lying about. 🙂

Kinda beautiful mess. 😀 Funny yet gets me into huge troubles. You see, people always do according to what they understand. Even explaining it to them goes wasted. They believe what they believe!

And we must let them believe what they believe😀

I can completely relate to this. Something I’ve been trying and seems to be working for me is allowing myself not to have to say anything… kind of allowing me to be myself that way. Being polite/responsive etc but just not making myself be anything… and that takes some of my focus off myself and then I think maybe I’m able to be more natural in conversations… but I’m still just trying it out, not totally sure it works yet in making me less anxious/awkward 😉
Thanks for posting, it’s always nice when people are open about things like this 🙂

I’m terrible at small talk. I’m also prone to saying what I really think, which is often uncomfortable for the person who just asked me a question and didn’t get the answer they had hoped for. I do have some friends in other states that I really wish I could have f2f conversations with, because real hugs and laughs are better than virtual ones

Being yourself might get uncomfortable at times but this is the way we should be…and yes, f2f convos are the best, we share the same vibes and everything becomes so easy.

So there are other humans who feel like that too!? That’s awesome!! I thought I was the only one!!
This has happened to me so many times ( painfully many times) that I’ve gotten used to it -_-
I’m a very quiet ( and awkward person) and I never understand the concept behind why we need to ask everyone how they are or know everything in their life… So…..
Face to face conversation do help because for some reason people think my reactions to extreme social situations are funny.
Loved your post. ( umm….ya…OK…bye)

Thanks for sharing your views🙂. And even I think why there is a need to just ask everyone who we don’t really see much about their life.
