Companion

I need to tell you how much I love you

And that I always have

Through my troubled childhood

Through my rebellious adolescence

And will keep loving you through my adulthood

I’ve always known that you’ll never love me back the way I do

Still I will sing for you

I will bring you sweets and flowers you like

And I promise that I will do the same for a thousand more years

And now that you are sick, bed ridden

I will stay by your side when everyone leaves

I will cook you meals

For I don’t want death to ease your pain,

I’m too selfish for that

You must have life

I need to see your beautiful baby blue

Which even in misery sparkles and shines

I will hold even if you are a shattered glass

And believe me this is true

I want your agony to continue, if not lessen

For I don’t want your memories to fade

I’ll love you more than what time permits

I want to be your companion all my life

If you leave, a part of me leaves

If you die, a part of me dies.
